I’m Gillian Forrester, a fully qualified and insured Clinical Solution Focused Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist. After working in a successful IT business I decided to concentrate on a more people focused future after my son was successfully treated for a fear of heights through hypnotherapy. I went on to train with the renowned Cliffton Hypnotherapy School in Bristol. After intensive training and many years of experience, this is now my passion – people and how hypnotherapy can help my clients deal with their issues, fears and change their lives. I am registered with the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH) the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), The National Board for Modern Psychotherapy, and (NBFMP) and abide by their strict code of ethics.
I am also a trained and certified Solution Focused Brief Therapist. I was trained with the renowned BRIEF Organisation which allows me to work with clients without the use of hypnosis.
I am a fully trained trauma therapist working with many clients to overcome PTSD using the effective and rapid Muss Rewind technique IARTT. This technique was developed by Dr David Muss and is used to treat clients who have suffered psychological and emotionally traumatic events.
As part of my ongoing training, I completed the Sleep Unlimited course which I have added to sessions. This approach combines Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) with my solution focused approach and is a powerful combination that can help individuals struggling with sleep issues.
I have been trained in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy which uses practical, modern, and well researched strategies to help people make significant, positive changes in their lives in a relatively short period of time. I look at what the client wants to achieve rather than at whatever prompted them to visit me. The approach focuses on the present and future and does not dwell on the past. Making Solution Focused Hypnotherapy a very positive and enjoyable experience.
I ask the client to consider their preferred future, for instance, how would you feel if the problem improved? This enables the client’s possible solutions to become more obvious and gives the client a goal to work towards. Hypnosis itself reduces anxiety, and this is done very simply through relaxation and visualisation, allowing the client to focus on the positive aspects of their life that encourage a shift in perspective.
I offer a professional, solution focused approach to therapy. By focusing on the positive aspects of your future and not the past we can find the solutions to your problems. This will enable you to move forward with confidence and happiness.
